Convert JPG to PNG Online Free in Browser
Convert JPG to PNG online for free. PNG stores every pixel losslessly, so you can edit and re-save the image without degrading it.
JPEG compresses by throwing away tones your eye barely registers — and it throws away a bit more every time you re-save. PNG stores pixels exactly and supports transparency. That splits the work between them: photos are cheaper to keep as JPG, while screenshots, logos, diagrams and anything with text or hard edges belong in PNG, where letters stay clean instead of picking up JPEG fringing.

Frequently asked questions
Will converting JPG to PNG restore the lost quality?
No. JPEG discards detail when it compresses, and that detail is gone for good. PNG preserves exactly what is in the JPG — no better, no worse. The point is different: from now on you can re-save the file as many times as you like without degrading it further.
Why is the PNG bigger than the original JPG?
PNG is lossless: it stores every pixel instead of approximating them. For photos that usually means a file several times larger. That is the price of an image you can edit and re-save without losing anything.
Should ordinary photos be stored as PNG?
Usually not. A photo saved as PNG ends up 5-10 times heavier for the same picture: millions of subtle tones leave lossless compression almost nothing to work with. PNG pays off when the photo goes on to further editing or needs transparency.
Where do my files get uploaded?
Nowhere. All processing happens locally in your browser using FFmpeg.wasm — files never leave your computer.
Is it free to use?
Yes, this tool is free and needs no sign-up. Your file is processed right in your browser and is not uploaded to a server. There are no watermarks.
