From ranges the regulator reserved for films and examples. There are few of them, so they repeat in large sets.

The same code with the same options gives the same rows — handy for repeatable tests.

For a spreadsheet app, choose XLSX: it opens CSV its own way, turning “+1…” into a formula and dropping leading zeros in postcodes.

    Frequently asked questions

    What is this generator for?

For testing software and websites, filling databases and demos. All rows are fictional: the generator doesn't create documents, national ID numbers or bank card numbers. The data is for testing, not for deception: don't use it to pass yourself off as someone else or to get around checks on websites.

Is it free? Does my data go anywhere?

It's free and needs no sign-up. The rows are built in your browser and nothing is sent to a server: the site only loads a small file with lists for the chosen country.

Where do the cities and postcodes come from?

From the open GeoNames database: the city, region and postcode in a row are real and match each other. The street and house number are made up, so the full address may or may not exist.

Can I call these numbers or email these addresses?

Emails use only example.com, example.net and example.org: these domains are reserved for examples, so messages go nowhere. Phones for the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, Germany and France come from ranges the regulators reserved for films and examples. Other countries have no such ranges: a number with a valid format may belong to a real person, so don't call or text it.

How do I get the same set again?

Keep the set code. The same code with the same options gives the same rows as long as the country data (lists of places and names) stays the same: the date used for ages and sign-up dates is stored in the code itself. Adding a column doesn't change the values of the others.

Why are there no national ID or card numbers?

A random number with a valid checksum can match a real person's number. That's why the generator doesn't create national IDs or card numbers. To test payments, use the test cards of your payment provider.
